VIENNA

The 3rd ISA Forum of Sociology took place at the University of Vienna between June 10-14, entitled “The Futures We Want: Global Sociology and the Struggles for a Better World”. The forum focussed on empirical, theoretical, and normative research to tackle the problems and opportunities that often cut across borders. This forum provided a platform for dialogue among ISA’s many participating Research Committees (RCs), Working Groups (WGs), and Thematic Groups (TGs) in a wide range of sociological topics. The RCs Sociology of Health and Sociology of Professional Groups dedicated two joint sessions for “The Future Heath Workforce We Need: Professions, Policy and Planning” organized by Ellen Kuhlmann, Goethe-University Frankfurt, Germany. Eszter Kovacs, expert of WP4 disseminated the main results of the JA, particularly she shared the experiences of Member States regarding HWF planning challenges and presented the self-evaluation “Toolkit on HWF Planning” designed during the WP4 activity on HWF planning data gaps.
